There are many types of friends.

There are friends who not only get all your jokes, they finish your jokes for you as well. Then they add something to your joke to make it even funnier.

There are friends who will tolerate your every quirk, agree with all of your irrational ideas, and stick with you in every bad and impulsive decision you make.

There are friends who will give you sound and logical advice, who will make you see things in a perspective that you normally won’t see you because you are blinded by bias and emotions.

If you’re really lucky, you will find a friend who is a combination of all these and more.

But the rarest of friends are the friends that push you out of your comfort zone. They will tell you things you don’t want to hear and push you to do things you might not want to do at first. They make you feel hungry, puzzled, dazed but inspired. They show you a world that is entirely unknown to you, and they make you realize that the world you currently live in is tiny and boring and safe.

They can be a whirlwind. You will never feel at ease with them. You will always be on your toes, but you will feel alive. Friendships with people like them won’t last very long. You might find it difficult to keep up with them, or they might leave you.

Whether you think they can’t be considered as friends at all or  you think their nature doesn’t make them a lesser friend, the important thing is, they changed you. You see, the people who change us the most are not always the people who will stay with us forever.
